“Mauritius was made first, and then heaven was copied from it” - Mark Twain

Introduction

Strategically located in the heart of the heavenly island of Mauritius, the city of Curepipe enshrines its uniqueness and demarcates itself from the other cities in various striking ways. At the very outset, it is worth mentioning that Curepipe is located on the Central Plateau and is an integrated part of the Plaines Wilhems district. Notorious for its chilling temperature and equally for the unexpected and frequently occurring rain, the rainy period can be regarded as a blessing in disguise. Rain rhymes with the majestic city of Curepipe. Nonetheless, people are ignorant about the colossal benefits this little amount of rain bequeaths us with. It is generally acknowledged among people coming to Curepipe that the rain is a curse since it spoils the fun as well as the day. We all would agree on the fact that the rain we receive is incomparable to monsoon! Parallel to that, we cannot deny the reality that it is this rain itself, so much despised by Curepipians, that fills the Midlands dam and waters our crops. As such, it cannot be asserted that the prevailing weather in Curepipe is a spoilsport.

Spectacular views

The supremely amazing view that can be seen from specific places in Curepipe renders us mesmerized. Ranging from a view of the famous tourist attraction Trou aux Cerfs, to the scrutinisation of the far-away horizon blended with a view of the prestigious University of Mauritius, the City of Lights leaves no room for complaints and critics regarding the landscape view of Mauritius. The awestruck sights perceived from particular locations in Curepipe cannot come to a halt without endowing credit to the fantastic view of the newly sprung Cybercity (which is still enthralling us with fashionably designated skyscrapers!), compounded with the green pasture and sugarcane fields left on our island.

This second salient town in Mauritius after Port Louis also proffers us with health centres, a homeopathic centre, recreational centres, gymnasiums and social welfare centres (for example in Wooton). A post-office and different banking companies and facilities in the hub of this prominent town confer us with a huge advantage. The district court in Curepipe is yet another building which draws a lot of people in its jaw during the hearing of cases. Last but not least, ship models shops should not be missed. Curepipe is famous for such handmade ship sculpts and this is a gigantic tourist attraction.
