Grand port is a district which is found in Mauritius and its capital is Mahebourg. We have to lay emphasis on the fact that Grand Port was the first port of Mauritius and its name was given after the village Old Grand Port where the dutch landed for the first time. Grand Port is a stunning district with magnificient mountains and forest valleys. We have so many tourists visiting this district for its peaceful nature and what they enjoy most, is hiking.

Mahebourg, the capital of Grand port offers several tourist attractions to the tourists. This is so because a Historical Naval museum have been set up there, where we can identify all the history and colonial past of the district. In fact, this museum helps in bringing back the memories of great naval battles between France and Britain. If we want to get interesting and constructive facts concerning the district, we can go to the Dutch historical museum. This museam contributes a lot in promoting the richness of our history. This is so as it gives us the opportunity in uncovering many of dutch settlements.

Mahebourg, is depicted as the busiest town of Grand Port district as we have the local trade which takes place there. In the past few years, we must say that the town has changed a lot. We cannot deny that it is a fact that the city is getting popular and many hotels have been built where the tourists can be sure to have a secure and comfortable stay. The district consists of structures which reflects the colonial past of the district. This is so because, for example, there is a prominent place in Grand Port District which is Rose-Belle, where we can visit the Roman Catholic Church. What is interesting to note is that this church is particular in its own way. This is because it was designed to resist cyclones. Grand Port district is an amazing place to visit where we can be sure that our history will be preserved due to its structures and of course spending wonderful and peaceful vacations.
