Being the third largest town of Mauritius, and being the capital of the Lower Plaines Wilhems, Rose Hill is a major commercial centre, second to the capital, Port Louis. Rose hill is the second largest settlement of Mauritius and is found on the western slope. The town’s municipal council is found at plaza, in the centre of the business part of the town. Rose hill is also equipped with several police stations found at different locations in the town, for instance, in the town centre itself, at Stanley, and Residence Barkly. It also has two post office, one in the town centre and one in Stanley and also shops, libraries, two bus stations, and several banks. Rose hill has many inhabitants and various communities stay together. Rose hill also have several mosques, numerous churches and several temples. Rose hill is considered as the best place to live, as it has a moderate climate and favourable weather conditions, not as hot as Port Louis or, humid like Curepipe. It is the mildest with the cool winds from Moka and the sunny sky of the west. It is one of the reasons why flowers and fruits are abundant. There is also another part of Rose Hill which is experiencing major developments, Ebene, and which is also known as the cyber city. The cyber city consists of numerous hi-tech buildings, cyber-towers, call centres, bank offices and also an eventual headquarter for the MBC (Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation). The cyber city started with only one cyber tower, but eventually, numerous buildings began to crop up, with numerous apartments also. There was a plan to shift from the major business centre of Rose Hill to Ebene, where a bus station would be set up and also various shops and libraries. However this project is still under discussion.
